No, I haven't given birth three and a half months early... Introducing the newest member of my shoe making machinery family, my Marshall skiver.
This awesome machine is used to thin the edges of leather (a process called skiving) so there are no bulky seams or edges in shoes to rub on feet. We weren't taught to hand skive in my course, having these machines in the workshop, and my attempts to teach myself have been pretty... umm... unsatisfactory. So when I saw this baby on eBay I jumped at the chance of owning a skiving machine! I think I'm going to name him Ted.
